Hi {{first_name|friend}},
We weren’t prepared for how much ambient health fear comes along with aging. Social media hasn’t helped, particularly if you are the type of person who gets stuck in a loop of “this normal-looking mole was actually skin cancer” content. There’s a rare bit of good news on that front, though. In a new clinical trial, personalized mRNA vaccines were shown to effectively target and kill undetectable cancer cells in people with melanoma, cutting the risk of the cancer returning and/or metastasizing.
Said one doctor, “We have tried to use vaccines in cancer therapy for decades, but the efficacy has not been clinically relevant in phase 3 trials to date. If this is successful, this will open up a new field that will be relevant not just to melanoma, but many other cancers.”
This comes on the heels of a new study of an experimental pancreatic cancer treatment that is extending the lives of advanced patients, a trial of a new medication that can deliver targeted chemotherapy to women with aggressive uterine cancer, and multiple studies that found GLP-1 medications can lower the risk of developing breast cancer.
With younger generations getting into tanning, we’re going to need all the melanoma treatments we can develop. Maybe they need to check out our coverage of the chemo cream fluorouracil, including this first-hand account of being on it.
Bye,
Your friends at Gloria

TO WATCH A 1980s NYC cult filled with supermodels and socialites sounds tailor-made for an HBO documentary. Bring Me the Beauties is the tale of the Eternal Values cult, told through old footage of its charismatic and striking leader, Frederick von Mierers, as well as with interviews with male supermodel Hoyt Richards (von Mierers died of AIDS-related complications in 1990). And for true-crime fans, this week brings the debut of Netflix’s The Witness.
TO COOK This oven-roasted chicken shawarma recipe is so good and easy, it continues to be passed around our friend group via text. Just make sure to give your chicken time to rest in the marinade!

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know we love Left On Friday swimwear. We’ve had their suits for years, and they still look and feel great. On our list for this year is this flattering and chic one-piece, these high-rise bottoms, and this supportive top that actually works for larger busts. We also want this extremely cool sun shirt for extra protection.
And don't sleep on the activewear. These are quite literally the softest workout pants we own and the first we reach for out of the drawer every week. Shop it all here. #partner

“I run a summer camp. I can tell you right now that you’re ruining your kid’s summer.” • The bacterial doom lurking in Hamptons waterways. • Dealing with facial hair issues. The agonies and ecstasies of a fifth-grade school dance. • Kids are using “POV” wrong, but do we care? • The cost of dying with dignity.
