A Fall Wish List
Plus: The food of the moment, and more.

Hi friend,
Gentle suggestion: Try prunes. We’re predicting they’re going to make a comeback. Why? Well first of all, one of the hottest new trends in the “wellness” world is fiber. It makes sense if you think about the newfound fascination with gut health, whatever that means, and how backed up everyone on the protein train probably is. It’s also a reaction to fears about increased rates of colon cancer; research shows that upping your fiber intake can reduce your risk.
That’s not the only reason, though. Studies, including a recent one, have shown that prunes specifically can help women guard against osteoporosis. The magical number of daily prunes, according to a 2022 study, was five to six – but beginners should start with one or two per day. Because even though everyone's full of shit these days, you don't have to be. (Too much?)
Bye,
Your friends at Gloria

It’s officially back-to-school season, which means we are just starting to think about fall clothing. A few big trends this year: suede, as usual; classic shades of navy and chocolate brown; preppy basics, like the rugby; rivet details; and dark denim. Take a peek at some of early standouts, below.
The color, the style, the crop — this will probably sell out. J.Crew Cropped Barn Jacket, $228. Size XXXS to 3XL.
This studded belt will make all our old jeans look cooler (hopefully). Linea Pelle Marlowe Belt, $195. Size XS to L.
A nice, big, slouchy suede tote. Zara Suede Maxi Shopper, $219.
It’s hard to find cool laptop sleeves, so we’re highlighting this sweater-y one. Tankair Lotus Laptop Sleeve, $130.
Like the ones you had in college, but spiffed up a bit. Birkenstock Boston Rivets, $174.95.
A perfect-fit classic cotton sweater. Soldout NYC The Favorite Crew, $245. Size XS to L.
A good deal on a good pair of jeans. Gap High-Rise Barrel Jeans, $71. Waist size 24 to 35.
Extremely wearable, and the color is v. fun. Alex Mill Coco Sport Cardigan, $168. Size XS to XL.
An adorable rugby. Kule The Lexie, $148. Size XS to XXL.
Wow, we love the black version of this bag. Banana Republic Large Leather East-West Tote, $350.
This crisp navy button-down is appealing. Cissa The Belle, $278. Size XS to XL.
A comfy rugby that still feels stylish. Citizens of Humanity Aris Rugby, $248. Size XS to XL.
Cute and functional. Uniqlo Short Parka, $69.90. Size XXS to XXL.
Going to give the dark rinse version of these slouchy jeans a try. Everlane The Gardener Pull-On Jean, $148. Waist size 23 to 33.
A pretty blouse, for when you want to feel a little dressed up (but not overly so). Sézane Rym Shirt, $130. Size 0 to 16.
The slight mock neck is working for us here. Ayr The Early Mornings Tee, $125. Size XS to XL.

TO READ In need of a job, a 39-year-old woman attempts to turn a crumbling mansion into a hype house for TikTok influencers. If this sounds vaguely horrorifying, it is. It’s also the plot of a buzzy new satire, If You’re Seeing This, It’s Meant for You (Bookshop, Amazon).
TO TRY Trade Coffee, a specialty coffee marketplace featuring over 450 handpicked roasts from passionate small-batch roasters worldwide. Our perfect cup was just a quiz away! Freshly roasted and delivered within 48 hours, Trade has completely transformed our mornings, and we’re excited to share it with you. TO WATCH The Spike Lee-produced documentary Katrina: Come Hell and High Water (on Netflix) is the second recent doc to understand and reckon with the tragedy two decades afterward. (Side note: these pictures of the post-storm devastation, finally released after all that time, are worth a look.) FYI: Meghan Markle’s lifestyle/cooking show, With Love, Meghan, is also returning this week.
TO LISTEN We’ve been enjoying Mac DeMarco’s new album, Guitar, which has a simple, leisurely sort of earnestness that makes for easy listening.

We are very into this shop for cute jewelry at reasonable prices. Like this chunky silver-hued chain necklace, which would look cool peeking out from a crewneck tee or sweater, or this stunning, luxe-looking lapis choker. We are also eyeing these glam deco stud earrings, which would make any outfit a bit fancier, and this colorful anklet, the perfect thing to wear now with flip-flops and later above loafers or clogs. “J.Crew used A.I. to counterfeit their own vibes.” • A fascinating art-world story. • Wow, this new Elizabeth Gilbert book is going to be a doozy. • Young athletes are being targeted by online extortionists, and we all should be aware.
