A Summer Must-Have
Plus: a foolproof recipe, and more.

Hi friend,
Great news: “Everything millennial is cool again.” Perhaps our long nightmare of being cringe is past.
As Remy Tumin and Claire Moses write, “They trolled us for being old when we hit our 30s, old-fashioned for remembering a time before email and for being ‘cringe’ as we kept wearing our skinny jeans and ankle socks. Oh, how the tables have turned.” They cite 11 cultural markers, from Sex and the City to big hair and big jeans (left out: the return of Drybar’s Alli Webb, froyo shops, Rachel Zoe on reality TV, and unfortunately, more Dr. Phil).
Is this because young people are, to borrow a term, “swagless?” Millennials, in our memory, have never been cool. We were always embarrassing and overeager. Now we’re wearing compression socks and fretting about not being able to retire. But a win is a win.
What is cool: a simple stripe, particularly in the summertime. Read on for our favorites, plus a few recommendations for your week.
Bye,
Your friends at Gloria

A Breton stripe is a summer mainstay. This year, though, it’s competing with a range of other stripey options — from candy-colored tanks to bold cabana stripes in primary shades to graphic black and white. There are so many good ones, it was hard to whittle the list down to just 28 pieces. Our favorite stripey pants, shirts, dresses, shoes, socks, and bags, all below.

TO STREAM The plot of Deep Cover (on Prime Video Thursday) involves cops recruiting improve comics to help nab criminals. Outlandish, but potentially funny…and Bryce Dallas Howard stars. We’re also curious about the new documentary on podcast mogul Alex Cooper, Call Her Alex, which is out today on Hulu.
TO TRY As we’ve gotten older, our eyebrows have steadily become thinner and lighter, but this brow balm by Iris&Romeo is really helping. It tints, thickens, and holds our brows in place without that crunchy, stiff feeling. And the mini brush makes it easy to get it in all the right places. It’s the best brow product we’ve tried in a while (besides this miracle growth serum that’s also working wonders).
TO READ The new romance Ordinary Love (Bookshop, Amazon) starts out with a woman who, on paper, has it all. But after realizing her husband wasn’t who she thought he was, she reconnects with her high school fling, Gennifer.
TO COOK This one-pot salmon and dill rice dish is easy to prepare and delicious. We took advantage of the tips in the comments to use broth instead of water, and to finish it with a squeeze of lemon.
