Something to Look Forward To
Plus: shopping for classics, and more.

Hi friend,
While the media turns its eyes to Washington, people impacted by the LA wildfires continue to pick up the pieces of their lives as firefighters work to contain the ongoing destruction.
Enter FireAid. A spin on Live Aid, it’s a super-sized duo of benefit concerts planned for January 30th to raise funds for relief efforts. More than 20 performers are participating, including Alanis Morissette; Earth, Wind & Fire; Stevie Nicks; The Red Hot Chili Peppers; Joni Mitchell; Stevie Wonder; Sting; Rod Stewart; and No Doubt. Tickets will be on sale tomorrow, and the event will also be live streamed.
FireAid isn’t the only concert to look forward to this year. 2025’s slate of tours and festivals speak to a deep nostalgia for the past four or so decades, and the interests (and buying power) of millennials and Gen Xers.
In late April, The Roots, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Luke Combs, and Lenny Kravitz will headline New Orleans Jazz Fest, and Santana, Patti LaBelle, Joan Jett, Cheap Trick, and Babyface are also booked to perform. Also in late April, Wilco will begin touring with buzzy indie act Waxahatchee. In May, Just Like Heaven – the aughts-focused festival in LA – will bring a reunited Rilo Kiley along with Vampire Weekend, Bloc Party, TV On The Radio, and more.
Melissa Etheridge and the Indigo Girls are also back on tour, as well as Nick Cave, Pearl Jam, Shakira, Coldplay, and Creed. Smells like…middle-age spirit.
